They were the boys of 1775
With only a musket and the drive
They would sound the battle cry
For this Nation they would live and die
They were the boys of 1775
The Wrong Door
Just random ramblings, short stories and anything else that pops into my head.

Earth Armada: Eclipse Rising
Captain Jason Meade felt relieved to be out of the cockpit of his SF-1E Astrofighter. Twelve hours was too long to spend in a cramped fighter cockpit. Captain Meade and his flight had been ordered to escort a damaged destroyer transport and protect it from any attacks by djraal fighters. Luckily the enemy hadn't made an attack. Jason looked over his fighter. Long sleek and deadly, the SF-1 Astrofighter had been designed to operate in both a planets atmosphere and the vacuum of space. It was an aging design originally intended tobe a ssuperiority fighter, it was now used as fighter-bomber.
The Terran Union had deployed the Fourth Field Army to the planet Atlas and the Eleventh Naval Air Force along with it, this included the Seventeenth Marine Air Group and its component squadrons. Recently High Command had decided to abandon the system and the Marines were ordered to cover the withdrawal of Terrain Union Military Forces. Luckily the civilian populace had been evacuated now all that remained were the Army and the Marines and the Navy ships sent to evacuate them.
"Captain Meade, Jason, please report to Major Kyles office immediately." The base intercom suddenly said.
"I wonder what this is about" Jason said aloud.
Jason was upset over his new orders, he had been ordered out of Atlas and sent to the Fifth Marine Air Group at Camp Chapman on Calypso Prime, the Fifth was a training unit used to train new Marine fighter pilots.
"Colonel Starke will see you now Sir," the sergeant manning the desk outside of Col. Starke's office said. Jason stood and marched into the office and came to a stop approximately eighteen inches from the desk.
"Captain Jason Meade reporting as ordered," Jason said as he came to attention.
"Have a seat captain," Colonel Sonny Starke said, "welcome to Calypso, I bet you are wondering why the Marine Corps went through all the trouble of pulling you out of a combat zone and sending you here. We need squadron leaders, men and women with combat experience. I have been ordered to form a new squadron, flying a new fighter, you've been selected to command it."
"Sir?"
Colonel Starke tapped a button on his desk and the lights in the office dimmed, then suspended in the air above the desk a holographic representation of a fighter appeared. It was a flying wing design with bent wings, judging by the small size of the cockpit on the holographic model the plane was huge for a fighter.
"This is the SF-6 Havoc, designed for space superiority missions, it is the first fight in our inventory to be equipped with a starlight drive system. It is armed with a pair of 40mm cannons, two hard points on each wing and one hard point on the fuselage."
"Is it cleared for carrier operations?" Jason asked.
"I'm glad you asked captain, the Havoc was designed along side the Victory-class strike carrier, but due to production and testing delays the Havoc has only now been cleared for service, you'll have command of the first squadron, the 99th."
"How many pilots do I have?"
"Currently, one, Lieutenant Jack Duncan, he was the primary test pilot for the Havoc, he knows more about the fighters capabilities then any one else, including the designers at Horizon Aerospace. More pilots will start arriving sometime next week, most of them will be fresh out of flight training."
"Guess I should go meet Lt. Duncan and learn more about the Havoc. Excuse me sir."
"Dismissed Captain."
Lt. Jack Duncan looked up when he heard the side door to the hanger open then he jumped down off of the wing of the Havoc.
"You're Lt. Duncan?" The captain asked.
"Yes sir last time I checked." Jack said.
"I'm Captain Jason Meade, your new CO, what can you tell me about this beast?" Jason asked
"Sir, the SF-6A Havoc was designed by Horizon Aerospace to replace the SF-2 Bantam superiority fighter. It is a trans-atmospheric capable aircraft with a maximum atmospheric speed of mach 2, in a vacuum it can achieve starlight speed in excess of 1c."
"How many flight hours do you have Lieutenant?"
"780, 560 of that is in the SF-6."
"Speeds above 1c."
"Yeah, but she can't fight at that speed, and don't expect her to get from Calypso to Romeo or Earth, but she can serve as a system patrol craft, or operate from a hidden location in a star system and have the ability to strike any where within that system a kind of fighter guerrilla warfare."
"
Well Lieutenant, I'll go pit on my flight suit, then you can show me how these things work and check me out on her."
